Iycorner Update

I know I wrote that I would update iycorner about four days ago, but I haven’t got around doing it yet. I did solve the memory problem I had for running WordPress, and I finally have all the plugins working, but I have yet to re install WordPress.
Real life does get in the way, but I have also been working on my old Vaio laptop. I have to admit I love that laptop. It’s been with me about 3 years, and it’s stilll powerful enough so I don’t really need to change it.
About a year ago I upgraded it by adding 2 Gb extra RAM (now it has four and it’s the most I can upgrade to), and by changing the 160 Gb hard drive for a250 Gb.
It used to run Windows Vista and then I added a dual boot with then Ubuntu 8.10. I loved to be able to work on both operating systems, although I have to admit that I prefer Ubuntu. I only used Vista for my BigFish Games and to run DreamWeaver.
Then Vista died on me over a year ago. I now believe it was a viral infection even though Norton Antivirus said it was clean. So kept using Ubuntu, but then poor Ubuntu began acting out about two weeks ago. There was an odd black block that occasionally appeared on Firefox.
I ran an antivirus and learned it was terribly infected. Normally I would have done a back up, but I use Dropbox to keep all my computers in sync, since I have Window XP on the Netbook, Vista on the Desktop, another Desktop with Ubuntu where I’m running XAMPP and using as my test intranet server, and of course my faithful Vaio. So there was no need to do a back up and simply formated the hard drive and merged the two partitions.
The Vaio is running smoothly now, and I love Ubuntu 9.10 so far. Now that the laptop is working and looking like I want to, I will concentrate on iycorner.net
